Péter Szijjártó to be the Main Patron of the Junior World Championships
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó will be the main patron of the inaugural FIG Junior World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Győr, to be held between 27 and 30 June.
Péter Szijjártó, in his main patron capacity, is set to give a speech at the Junior World Championships. The other patrons for the event are Dr. Tünde Szabó (State Secretary for Sport), Zsolt Borkai (Mayor of the city of Győr) and Dr. Zoltán Magyar (President of the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation).
“It shows the prestige of the Junior World Championships that Mr. Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade accepted the main patron position of the event” – commented Dr. Zoltán Magyar. The president of the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation underlined that the main patron, all the patrons and the organisers are all doing everything in their power to make this Junior Worlds memorable – and not only because it’s the historical inaugural event of this kind.
“We are considering hosting the first Junior World Championships a major sports diplomatic success. Perhaps it is not widely known, but the proposal for holding a Junior Worlds came from the Hungarian Federation. It was not without a debate, as there was no complete accordance whether a Junior Worlds should be held or not. But gymnastics youngsters start their careers very early and I believe they need international competitive experience” – he added.
