Welcome message

Dear Gymnast Friends, Dear Gymnast Society,

It gives me great pleasure, as a former Olympic Champion and the Mayor of the city of Győr, to invite the gymnast society to Hungary. It is a great honour to us to host the 1st Junior World Championship in Hungary, in the city of Győr in 2019.

Sport has a prominent role in Hungary, we hosted several great international and intercontinental competitions and Győr, the city that I lead for 12 years organized more than 15 European and World Competitions. In 2017, Győr hosted the European Youth Olympic Festival and so we could welcome all the Olympic Family in our city. Due to this great event, there were such infrastructural developments in Győr which makes it possible to organize a successful Junior World Championship in 2019. Gymnastics is a success sport in Hungary, we are very proud that our Olympic, World and European Champion athletes are role models to the young talented gymnasts. In recent times, we have worked a lot with my colleagues and the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation on the preparation of the event, and after the positive decision of the FIG, we will happily continue with the organizational work.

Dear Mr. President, Dear Friends of Gymnastics, thank you very much for your support, we will do our best in order to ensure that after the 1st Junior World Championship, in 2019, everyone leaves Hungary with satisfaction and unforgettable memories.

Zsolt Borkai
Mayor of the city of Győ

Dear Mr. President, Dear Gymnastics Friends!

The Hungarian Gymnastic Sport reached another milestone with the organization of a World Championship. Personally for me it is a great pleasure to participate at such a grandiose event as organizer, and not just as an athlete. I would like to invite all of you, the athletes and officials from other countries, the fans of sport and especially gymnastics from the entire world to the 1st Junior World Championship, which will be an outstanding event.

The Hungarian gymnastics has long history, and not only in the achievements, but in organizing great international events as well. I would like to mention the World Championship in Debrecen, in 2002, of which we received only positive remarks, and the remembrance of the event will hold in one’s mind and heart. Győr is one of the most beautiful cities in Hungary, and will be excellent host city and will serve worthy the spirit and importance of this event. Mr. Zsolt Borkai, Olympic Champion in gymnastics and Mayor of the City of Győr and me, two-times Olympic Champion on the pommel horse; President of the Hungarian Gymnastics Federation can guarantee that we will organize an extremely high level competition, rich in experiences for the gymnastics friends and you. Gymnastics is one of the most successful sports in Hungary, and gives a long row of World Champions of this spectacle, elegant sport. Our latest prides, Krisztián Berki, the winner of the Olympic Games in London is an idol for several Hungarian and foreign young gymnast, Boglárka Dévai, European-champion, Dávid Vecsernyés, bronze medallist of the European Championship, and Krisztián Balázs, silver medallist of the Junior European Championship. The latest will compete in Győr, among the foreign athletes in a high level, which will be a very good example for the youth, and the next generations of gymnasts.

Dear Gymnast Friends! This way I would like to invite you to Hungary, to the 1st Junior Gymnastics World Championship in Győr.

Hopefully, meet you in Győr!
